How GemologyGeek Began

GemologyGeek® was built on a gap I had seen throughout my entire career: there was no single place where both designers and passionate non-industry gem lovers could go to genuinely learn about gemstones… their characteristics, their science, their history and what makes each one extraordinary.

In 2015, I said as much to a friend. Her response was simple: "Well, you should create it then." So I did.

I launched GemologyGeek® on Instagram with a clear focus: stunning gemstones, a highlight on unique inclusions or design techniques, and one gemology fact per post. Clean, direct, educational. Those little facts turned out to be everything. They became the heartbeat of what GemologyGeek® would evolve into.

By mid-2018, I wanted to go deeper. I wrote my first long-form educational post and called it a Gemacation… a full GemGeekOut of gemology information, science, history and GemFacts. I went into every bit of the geekiness I could, while keeping it factual, accessible and genuinely enjoyable. I'll be honest… I was nervous. I wasn't sure someone outside the industry would follow along, let alone stay for it.

The opposite happened. People from every background: designers, collectors, enthusiasts and complete newcomers not only followed it, they loved it. The industry began using Gemacations as a quick, trusted form of education. The community kept growing because the content respected its audience: no dumbing down, no fluff, just real gemology made approachable.

Over the years, GemologyGeek® expanded into what it is today; a Gemacation platform, a trusted source for beautiful Gems and Custom Jewelry Atelier. Each part of it grows from the same place it always has: a genuine obsession with gemology, a commitment to education, and the belief that being a Geek is the highest compliment there is.

Welcome to the community. Being a GEEK is cool here.
